Adidas × I Art Joburg

I Art Joburg is a street art event held in South Africa, where local and international artists come together to create large-scale murals in the often-overlooked streets of Johannesburg — injecting a wave of positivity as neglected buildings receive vibrant facelifts.

Working alongside /ANDPEOPLE, the concept was to upcycle a commonplace box by laser-engraving a South African-inspired pattern onto its exterior. The cardboard stands in for the raw material of the buildings themselves — with one simple creative action, something new is born. Designer and Art Director Kim Terri Smith curated everything inside the box, along with the booklet and broadsheet design.

A press pack that carries the spirit of the event before the recipient even opens it — a laser-engraved box standing in for the city walls the event itself was busy transforming.
