Editorial Illustration

The Lesser Lights

The Lesser Lights is a passion project of mine, what started as a series of doodles became a new visual style and subject matter. The style is defined by a distinctly bright colour palette and surreal landscapes.

MetaLab, one of the world’s biggest interface design companies, reached out to me to help establish a consistent look for their editorial illustrations. As a regular contributor to MetaLab’s blog, I collaborated closely with their Art Director, Rosie Manning, to conceptualize and execute illustrations that visually accompanied their articles.

Each project began with a conceptual sketch, which I presented to the team. Once a direction was chosen, I refined the design and rendered it in Adobe Illustrator. Whether the topic was health and wellness, remote working, or collaboration, all the illustrations needed to form a cohesive visual family.
